Ratna Dutt, Chief Executive of the Race Equality Foundation, is member of the advisory group of Lankelly Chase: ‘Ethnic Inequality and Mental Health’.
There is persistent inequality along the lines of ethnicity across most indicators of disadvantage in the UK. There is also disproportionality in the way damaging interventions such as school exclusion, being sectioned under the Mental Health Act, arrest and imprisonment are applied. Despite this we don’t know much about the nature and extent of the relationship between ethnicity and multiple disadvantage or about the lives of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people facing the most extreme and persistent exclusion.
The remit of the advisory group is “to advice Lankelly Chase Foundation on a set of principles that will drive its investment strategy, provide expert input into the strategy itself and keep delivery of the actions on course and in line with the guiding principles over time”. Started in April 2014 and is ongoing.
