The Public Health England (PHE) Health Equity Board provides leadership to PHE to ensure that the organisation has a robust programme in place to deliver on its remit and duty to reduce health inequalities. It also helps PHE to ensure that it meets its duties under the Equality Act and as an employer, promotes equality in its workforce and promotes good relations between its staff. The Board will offer leadership to the public health system nationally and locally on its actions to reduce health inequalities and to promote equality and diversity.
The mission of PHE is to protect and improve the nation’s health and to address inequalities, working with national and local government, the NHS, industry, academia, the public and the voluntary and community sector. It is also committed to promoting equality and diversity, and reducing discrimination both within PHE and in the services it delivers.
