Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) is an inclusive evidence-based parenting programme, designed to promote protective factors which are associated with good parenting and better outcomes for children.
SFSC has enjoyed success with parents from a number of backgrounds, including black and minority ethnic parents, teenaged parents, parents with learning disabilities and parents from marginalised communities, including those with experience of drugs, alcohol or violence.
How can I get involved?
You can take part in the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities programme in four ways:
- by attending a 13 week SFSC programme for parents
- by attending the six week online “Strengthening Families” course, which introduces concepts from SFSC
- by undergoing the five day facilitator training, to allow you to deliver the SFSC parent programme to groups of parents
- by commissioning facilitator training for a group of individuals, to allow the roll-out of SFSC parent programmes in your own area or agency.
